2023 Shorts Showcase Film Festival

All entries must be in by November 30th, 2023 Selections will be made by January 15, 2024..  All films must be 40 minutes or less, Films longer than 15 minutes will not qualify for TV broadcast.  Finalists will be available for voting in January 2024.

Categories, Pricing & Deadlines

Awards will go to: 

  • Best Narrative - Drama and Comedy

  • Best Documentary

  • Best Animated

  • Best Student Short

  • Audience Favorite based on global votes received.


Submission Deadlines:​

  • Early Bird:  November 15, 2023 — $50 General Submission / $20 Student

  • Final Deadline: December 15 2023 

  • Finalists chosen in December, Festival presentations in January 2024


Shorts Showcase reserves the right to release selection information as early as December 15, 2023.

Submission Rules & Terms

NO excessive violence, no gore, no porn of any kind. Most profanity will be "bleeped" if your film is selected for our television program. Films longer than 15 minutes will not qualify for TV broadcast.



  • To be eligible for the Shorts Showcase Online and TV Broadcast Festival, films must comply with the following: 

  • The film must have all clearances – including music, talent, locations, etc. 

  • The film must be available for online and television broadcast. 

  • There must not be a screening fee attached to the film. Shorts Showcase will not pay a screening fee to any film featured in the Festival; there are no exceptions. 

  • Film format 1920 x 1080, minimum 16k bit, Mp4

  • Non-English films must be subtitled in English.


Rules for Submission
In addition to the eligibility requirements listed above, filmmakers must comply with the following submission rules to be considered as a Finalist in their respective category: 

  • The submitting filmmaker must be either the producer or director of the film.

  • Entries are accepted exclusively through

  • A completed official entry on 

  • Payment of the non-refundable entry fee must accompany the submission. 

  • A functional streaming video file (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) in high definition 720p or 1080p (Mp4) included with your submission, either embedded or linked with working password. 

  • Multiple submissions must be provided as individual submissions. 


All filmmakers will be notified by email after the last day of voting, if they are selected for an award. Shorts Showcase reserves the right to release basic information about selected films as early as December 15, 2023.


Finalists and Winners
Based on the category of short film, official selections will be in competition for Prizes across these categories:

  • Narrative Short Films, Drama and Comedy 

  • Documentary Short Films 

  • Animated Short Films 

  • Student Film Competition

Finalists will all compete for Prizes. Final selections will remain eligible for “Audience Favorite” All submitted films that meet the above eligibility requirements are considered “in competition” to be selected as a Shorts Showcase Festival Finalist at the time of submission. In December 2023 finalists will be publicly announced. Only finalists are eligible for the Grand Prize in each category. Grand Prize winners will announced via email, published on our site and winning films will be featured in further episodes of the Shorts Showcase television show as the winners of that category. 

Other films may be invited to screen at the Festival as a “Special Presentation” or in a “To Be Announced” time slot; these may be eligible for the Audience Choice Award depending on when the films are scheduled.
