Ongoing The SHORTS SHOWCASE 2009/10 was established to provide short-form filmmakers with a crucial avenue of distribution, reaching millions of households, 24/7 for at least one month at a time. The Showcase features short films within a professionally produced television show and broadcasts them to millions of households within the Southern California area, and supplements this exposure with online viewings.

In addition to broadcasting selected short films, the Showcase includes select accompanying highlights and behind-the-scenes footage provided by the filmmakers. Best of all, films selected by the Showcase's committee of industry professionals receive substantial airtime, providing desired exposure to audiences. Each episode of the Shorts Showcase is available On Demand for up to one month and even longer online.

Many of the films selected for broadcast have the opportunity to submit for regional Emmy Awards consideration, and are eligible to win a grand prize of studio time and cash toward their next project.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
The mission of the Shorts Showcase 2009/10 is to provide an ongoing avenue of distribution via television and internet broadcasting for short-form filmmakers, exposing their films to a broader audience for a longer period of time.
 

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Shorts Showcase offers cash prizes up to $500 USD in four categories: Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Screenplay and Best Film. Viewers at home can vote online for their favorite film, director, writer, and cinematographer, and the winning films also receive an encore presentation during a special Winners Showcase episode.

WHITE SANDS
INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Las Cruces, New Mexico - USA
April 15 to 18, 2010 Set against the breathtaking backdrop of southern New Mexico, the 6th Annual WHITE SANDS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (WSIFF) is dedicated to bringing filmmakers and audiences together to better appreciate cinema. The WSIFF screens outstanding short- and feature-length documentaries and narratives of all genres from around the world, with a special focus on Latino and New Mexican filmmaking.

Named after the famous 250 square miles of stunning white gypsum sand nearby, the WSIFF unfolds each year against the backdrop of the majestic Organ Mountains and the meandering Rio Grande, and is also home to spectacular wineries, historic attractions such as old Mesilla Village, and world class cuisine.

Relaxed hospitality abounds, and WSIFF guests are provided with lodging as well as VIP credentials that allow admission into all screenings, receptions, and special events. Las Cruces Film Commissioner Bill McCamey is also on hand during the Festival to speak with any filmmaker interested in learning more about filming in New Mexico.

The “Shorts Showcase,” premiering December ‘09, will feature Short Films (:30 seconds - 20:00 minutes in length), from all over the world, and broadcast them to a global audience online and millions of television viewers every month!

All entries are screened by a committee of industry professionals.  If accepted for broadcast in one of our Student “Shorts Showcase” programs, your film will air for one month, currently in over 3 million homes and 24/7 to a global audience online.

All films in each show – and in our Online Marketplace – are eligible for Cash Prizes and Special Gift Awards.  If your film wins in one of the categories, (Best Director, Best Film, Best Cinematographer or Best Screenplay), it will also be featured again in our “Winners Showcase,” slated for broadcast the month of March 2010!  Additionally, your film may also be eligible to submit for Emmy consideration! (Some restrictions apply).
